New England Patriots special teams coordinator Jeremy Springer and vice president of football operations/strategy John Streicher both made The Athletic’s 50 under 40 list.
The list put together by Jourdan Rodrigue and Mike Jones is composed of “rising coaches, executives, personalities and other personnel who significantly impact the NFL” now and in the future.
Springer was a part of last season’s coaching staff under former Patriots coach Jerod Mayo. The organization went from the bottom of the league in special teams production in 2023 to 13th overall.
Streicher was with the Los Angeles Rams last season and has become known for his great in-game decision-making. He also worked with coach Mike Vrabel while the two were with the Tennessee Titans.
Springer is 35 years old, and Streicher is 34 years old, respectively. So, although the Patriots have a more experienced coaching staff, there is still a youth movement in the building.
There’s hope that both coaches can help aid in a turnaround in New England. They’ll get some carry-over and consistency with the return of Springer, while Streicher can hopefully help them with the finer details of the game.
