Rob Gronkowski kept it on brand while throwing out Monday’s first pitch in Boston.
Taking the mound to kickoff the Red Sox four-game home stand vs. the Guardians, the legendary Patriots tight end hit his iconic “Gronk Spike” instead of aiming for the plate and fans at Fenway were loving it:
“Best first pitch I’ve ever seen,” a user laughed.
“the legend continues @RobGronkowski,” Chris Brockman tweeted.
“Red Sox by a million,” a fan said.
“Wally’s reaction is perfect,” another person pointed out.
“GRONK SPIKE! I wouldn’t have it any other way,” a New Englander commented.
“I’ll watch this man spike any ball into the ground with glee. Never gets old.”

It’s Marathon Day in the city of Boston so there’s plenty of cause for celebration. Even the Red Sox are above .500 so far, which wasn’t something that many anticipated coming into the season.
Gronkowski also served as the marathon’s grand marshal much to the delight of Massachusetts fans.
“This means a lot to the city of [Boston]. It means a lot to myself,” the three-time Super Bowl champ said of the honor (via MassLive.com). “Since I’ve been here and got drafted to the New England Patriots in 2010, my teammates and the whole entire community in New England welcomed me with open arms. So it’s just an amazing honor to be here and to represent the city of Boston and all of New England. And this is a worldwide event as well. So I’m just excited for it.”
