Well, I can picture the cheese…
While the Olympic games continue in France the Red Sox are in Missouri to play the Kansas City Royals.
The Sox are 2.5 games out of the Wild Card and these same Royals are in their way.
Pitcher Brady Singer just faced Boston a few weeks ago on Con Air Day and it didn’t go well.
Rather than be the law from the mound, Singer instead was more of a gambler losing his wallet. Lasting just 2.2 innings while giving up 4 runs on 8 hits – including 2 homers – he set the Sox up well for their eventual 5-4 win.
James Paxton is making his second start of his second stint in Boston. His first start was a mess: 6 runs (3 earned) in 4.1 but with 5 strikeouts. And there were some defensive miscues behind Big Maple that didn’t help. He did not have a resurgence with the Dodgers. He was largely lucky and racked up wins instead of putting together underlying mechanics. That said, Clayton Kershaw has looked rough so maybe LA was overconfident in releasing the southpaw.
First pitch is at 8:10 PM ET on WEEI and NESN.
