17 to go.
What happened last night? Where did that team come from? After a dominant win on Monday night, the Red Sox find themselves just three games out of the Wild Card. While everything may seem like a disaster in Boston, Minnesota has problems of their own. Some (me) would say that expanded playoffs were a mistake, and a race between two teams that can’t get out of their own way isn’t great for the sport. Others (major league owners) would argue that having more playoff games means more money in their pockets, and that’s a great development for baseball. Either way, the Red Sox have a chance to make the playoffs if they can implode slightly less than the Twins.
It’s Kutter Crawford vs. Albert Suarez tonight. Crawford has been better of late, but Suarez has had success of his own. He also represents the type of pitcher that may present a problem for the Red Sox, given that he’s a strike thrower that can rack up quick outs. I’d love to see the Red Sox foul pitches off and get to him early, but I wouldn’t be shocked to see him make it through seven or eight innings. 17 games to go, might as well be playoffs. Go Sox.
