Is there a more Massachusetts name than Emerson Hancock?
Game 1 of the Mariners/Red Sox series was almost as good as it could get for Boston, considering the circumstances. Brayan Bello did well on the mound in his return from the IL, Casas was offensively productive and launched a three-run homer, there were several stolen bases, and it was an errorless game from the Sox side, plus known Red Sox haters Randy Arozarena and Rowdy Tellez let us off easy.
Today the Sox face starting-pitcher Emerson Hancock (A name with not one but TWO famous Massachusetts men in it!), who currently has an ERA of 12.71 and only 4 strikeouts over the 2 games he’s pitched. Can the Red Sox capitalize and secure their third series win in a row, or will they be doomed by men stranded on the bases, errors, and/or their weak middle-inning bullpen? Time to find out!
