Our pun king may return soon.
Worcester W, 13-10
The Red Sox haven’t said much about what Trevor Story needs to do to complete his rehab assignment, though they did say he would play back-to-back games at the very last before they’d even consider it. Well, not only can they cross that one off the list, they can do so with one of those sparkly gold sharpies. Story collected four hits last night and stole a base in his best rehab appearance yet. None of the hits went for extra bases, though, and they came on a night when absolutely everyone on the team contributed to an offensive explosion. In fact, the most exciting news of the night may be that Kristian Campbell hit his fourth homer in just 13 AAA games.
Portland, W 4-2
Things were much quieter in Manchester, New Hampshire, though it was still the type of taught affair that’s made the world fall in love with the Maine-New Hampshire AA border war. Juan Daniel Encarnacion has had a very rough go of it since his promotion to Portland, so it’s nice to see him keep the opposing bats off the board, even if his start only lasted four innings.
Greenville, L 4-3
I love Greenville, South Carolina. It has a surprisingly lively downtown, it’s the home of Shoeless Joe Jackson, and South Carolina’s mustard-based barbecue sauce is extremely underrated. That’s why it’s such a shame that Greenville is easily the most boring Red Sox farm team right now in terms of prospects. What I’m saying is, get back in the lineup, Miguel Bleis.
Salem, L 7-3
Franklin Arias, who dominated the Florida Complex League prior to his promotion with a .355/.471/.584 slash line, makes Salem exciting, even with Yoeilin Cespedes done for the year. Arias really struggled in his first month in A-ball, but he’s adjusted nicely now, and has collected hits in eight of his last nine games.
