But the brutal stretch is ending…soon
Happy Monday.
How many games did you think the Red Sox would take from the Baltimore Orioles? Two games with a chance at a third out of four was a pretty good outcome. However the Kansas City Royals have won four straight pushing their Wild Card lead to 3.5 games over Boston. At 65-58 the Sox are hanging there though. And after a good series in Baltimore, maybe they take a game or two from the Houston Astros?
Remembering 2004
Game 121: A 10-7 victory over the Chicago White Sox. 69-52. Mark Bellhorn stole a base. Manny and Varitek (twice) each added home runs. Michael Jackson tossed one scoreless inning for the Pale Hose and then beat it.
Game 122: Another win for Red. This time 6-5. Derek Lowe and Freddy Garcia would each allow 5 runs and the game was settled among the bullpens. Curtis Leskanic, Mike Myers, Mike Timlin, and Keith Foulke tossed scoreless relief. 70-52. This is when the Red Sox really started to get hot so they’re gonna be pulling further and further away from the 2024 squad in all likelihood.
Game 123: Red Sox lose this one 3-0 against the Toronto Blue Jays. Boston nemesis Ted Lilly tossed a complete game shutout. Pedro Martinez allowed 3 runs on 4 hits in 7.0 innings while striking out 10 but that was all the Jays needed. 70-53.
The Red Sox are back in action tonight against the Houston Astros at 8:10 PM ET.
Talk about what you want and be good to one another.
