But the Sox still lost
Happy Friday.
Ugh, what a week.
The good: Brayan Bello pitching like an ace. Jarran Duran homers and kinda everything. Rich Hill is wearing #44 and is 44 years old. He’s also worn 51, 53, 57, and 62 so the challenge is out there, Rich.
The bad: 3 losses to the Toronto Blue Jays.
Boston is at 69-65, 3.5 games back in the Wild Card. The Detroit Tigers – who the Red Sox play next – are at 68-67 and just 5.0 games out of the Wild Card.
These next three games are big. The Red Sox need 2 wins at minimum to keep playing meaningful baseball in September.
Remembering 2004
Game 134: An 8-6 loss to the Texas Rangers dropped Boston to 80-54. (Just an 11 game winning streak away from 80 wins this year!) Tim Wakefield allowed 8 runs over 6.0 innings which was ultimately just too many. Mark Bellhorn and David Ortiz homered in the effort. Dave Roberts batted leadoff. Texas’ starting pitcher? Chris Young.
Talk about what you want and be good to one another.
