Someone find the brooms
Happy Wednesday.
The Red Sox got back to work this week at winning. And winning against teams who count the most. Like the Kansas City Royals. At 61-51 the Sox are just 0.5 games back for the last Wild Card spot in the AL. They’re 5.5 games out of first place in the East. They’re 6-4 in their last ten games. A win tonight would bring them to .500 after the All Star Break.
Kutter Crawford takes the ball against Cole Ragans at 8:10 PM ET before a travel day to return to Fenway Park for a Texas Homestand facing the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers.
Remembering 2004
Game 112: A decisive 14-4 win over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays moved Boston to 62-50. Amazingly just one homer from Boston (hit by Kevin Millar). Dewon Brazelton would allow 8 run (7 earned) in just 1.2 innings of work for the Rays. Geremi González would enter the game as the bulk pitcher for 5.1 innings almost like the Rays used an opener. He would allow an additional 6 runs. Gonzalez would later pitch for the Red Sox and, after his MLB career, die from being struck by lightning.
Talk about what you want and be good to one another.
