Tyler O’Neill says “not on my watch”
Happy Thursday.
Taking two-out-of-three games from the Baltimore Orioles was just what the doctor ordered. At 74-72 the Red Sox sit 4.0 games back in the Wild Card but, more importantly, 7 wins from 81 and 5 wins from 79. With 16 games remaining it’ll be a small surge to finish the season at .500 or (slightly) better. But they might dodge a full collapse to 78-84.
Remembering 2004
Game 146: To get everyone in the right mood this was a win over the New York Yankees. The 3-2 victory took the Sox to 89-57. The pitching matchup was Bronson Arroyo vs Orlando Hernández aka El Duque. Mariano Rivera took the blown save thanks to a poor effort from Kenny Lofton. I searched for a GIF to not avail, but after Lofton fails to make the play Rivera shouts at him (and the camera) “catch the ball!”
Talk about what you want and be good to one another.
