Pitching pitching pitching lol
Happy Monday.
Rich Hill, for some reason, thought joining with his home town team for an unlikely playoff push was the best use of his time in 2024. And, well, after dropping a series to the Detroit Tigers who are (checks notes) not trying to win the Red Sox are now a bit further away from that goal.
Sitting at 70-67, Boston is 4.5 games out of the Wild Card. The Yankees, despite playing at a sub-.500 clip for nearly two months remain in first place in the AL East.
Remembering 2004
Game 135: Win! Boston improves to 81-54 against the Texas Rangers in a 6-5 win. Big Papi hit a home run and future ace R.A. Dickey tossed some very unimpressive innings in relief.
Game 135: Another win for the ‘04 team to bet to 82-54. An 8-3 win over the Oakland A’s as Bronson Arroyo outdueled Barry Zito.
Game 137: Boston moves to 83-54 with yet another win! This time it;’s 7-1 over the Oakland A’s. Oakland, by the way, was good. They had 81 wins of their own. In this game though Derek Lowe performed far better than Mark Redman, who was not one of the Big Three Oakland pitchers.
Talk about what you want and be good to one another.
