But will it be too late?
The Rich Hill Era is upon us, folks. Again. Hill will pitch for the WooSox tonight, a few days after throwing a bullpen to Kyle Teel, who is literally half of Hill’s age. (Tara Sullivan, Boston Globe)
Would it be too much to ask for Hill to regain his form as quickly as Triston Casas has? Yeah! It probably would! Given the ease with which Casas has stepped back into a big league lineup after missing months with a rib injury, it’s worth wondering whether there really was something to those mental swings. (Julian McWilliams, Boston Globe)
Hopefully Trevor Story also spent time taking swings in his head — along with fielding grounders in his head, tracking pop-ups in his head, and, uh, not tearing every ligament in his body in his head. Because we’re now being told there’s a “real strong chance” he plays for the Boston Red Sox again this season. (Lauren Campbell, MassLive)
Ceddanne Rafaela, though, continues to swing the bat and catch the ball IRL. And, yesterday, he had one of his best all-around games of the year. (Chris Cotillo, MassLive)
Rafaela has been an impact rookie up the middle for the Sox this year. Is there someone else who could fit that description in the offing? Chas Meidroth is being eyed as a potential call-up. (MLB.com)
Rafaela didn’t carry the Sox totally on his own, though. Brennan Bernardino chipped in with what some are calling the biggest out of the season. (Rob Bradford, WEEI)
