Entering 2024, Boston Red Sox minor leaguer Kristian Campbell ranked as the 30th-best prospect in the club’s system. The infielder had just 22 games under his belt and was looking to make an impact. Campbell has done just that in 2024 and has now earned himself his second promotion of the year. The Red Sox made the decision to promote Kristian Campbell to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, according to MiLB Central’s Chase Ford. The move marks another step in Campbell’s meteoric rise.

Red Sox Prospect Kristian Campbell Promoted to Triple-A
Campbell began the year with Single-A Salem. In 40 contests, he impressed with a .306 average and 13 doubles. That was enough for Boston, who quickly pulled the trigger on a call-up to Double-A Portland. There, he joined Red Sox top prospects Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony, and Kyle Teel. Campbell hit the ground running and batted .400 in his first month with his new team. July was another strong showing for the Tennessee native. Campbell slashed .338/.435/.455 in the month. That earned him immense recognition in prospect rankings.

In the most recent rankings by MLB Pipeline, Campbell entered the Top 100 prospects list for the first time. He currently sits at #79, representing the fifth and final Boston player inside the top 100. And, inside the organization, his play paid dividends as well. After beginning the year nearly off the Red Sox Top 30, MLB ranks Campbell as Boston’s fifth-best prospect. That’s quite the rise for someone who was mostly an unknown entity just five months ago.
Campbell’s consistency has been massive for him this season. After a slow April, he’s batted over .300 in every month. Campbell appeared in 14 August contests and posted an OPS above 1.050. He had hits in his final six Double-A matchups. Campbell exits Portland after batting .362 with eight home runs, 17 doubles, and 35 RBI in 56 games. In just 118 career minor league appearances, the surging prospect has made his way from Rookie ball to Triple-A.
Kristian Campbell batted .362 with a .463 OBP, .582 slugging percentage, 1.045 OPS, 8 homers, 17 doubles, 3 triples, 35 RBIs, 48 runs, 17 steals, 35 walks, 38 strikeouts in 56 games (255 PA) at Portland https://t.co/frqsGz0Uah

What Campbell’s Rise Means for the Red Sox System
Campbell’s promotion comes exactly a week after Boston made the decision to move Mayer, Anthony, and Teel to Worcester. Four of Boston’s top five prospects now play with the WooSox at the Triple-A level. Outfielder Braden Montgomery, Boston’s first-round draft selection this year, is the only one who is not. Mayer, Anthony, and Teel, termed the “Big Three”, may need to make room for one more in Kristian Campbell.

Just a ridiculous amount of talent right around the corner for a Red Sox team that’s already making noise with their young core. pic.twitter.com/0FiElVUg4k
