Welcome neighbors to the north!
Three series, three bird teams. It’s time to get the flock out of here.
Well, one more bird to go….
2024 was supposed to be the Blue Jays year. But a slow start from Vlad Jr. and a really big down year from Bo Bichette were just some of the problems that ailed them and slipped the Jays out of the playoffs and even behind the Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays into fifth place in the AL East.
The team that built its reputation the last few years as being “sons of major leaguers” may not be wrong for this world. Cavan Biggio was jettisoned last summer. Vlad and Bo are each in their walk years and could leave via free agency or, if the Jays fall out of the race, in deadline deals. After negotiating all winter Vlad and the Jays were still far apart when he decided to call off the extension talks and play the season. That doesn’t mean he won’t pick up the phone if they hit a number he likes.
With the Yankees spending money to try and replace Juan Soto, the Orioles a couple years into their farm-power, the Red Sox starting a youth movement, and the Rays always finding talent there just isn’t much of a window for Toronto to push open.
As Raffy Devers, Trevor Story, Alex Bregman, and Triston Casas began to heat up after the first series of the year against the Texas Rangers the Sox bats are looking to score some runs and make Fenway friendly again.
