Kyle Teel had two hits on the night, but also two passed balls, as Worcester blew a very late lead.
Haven’t had enough blown saves or lack of run support yet from the Red Sox? Well, look no further, the farm has you covered. Worcester allowed a walk-off passed ball, which must feel like stepping in gum and then walking into a rake. Let’s get into it!
Worcester: L, 4-3 (BOX SCORE)
Hunter Dobbins, who’s been especially good in 2024 and in Triple-A since his promotion, kept the Iron Pigs (Phillies AAA) in check for five scoreless innings, spanning 89 pitches and striking out six. Chase Shugart, back in Triple-A, mostly did his job for two innings, but started the seventh inning by giving up a home run to Ethan Wilson. It then started to go down hill from there, and Yohan Ramirez imploded to start the ninth, an inning they entered up 3-1. That allowed Lehigh Valley to walk it off via a passed ball. The error was one of Worcester’s three on the night (two from Teel), which doesn’t bode well for their postseason hopes.
With the bat, Teel was bordering on clutch, showing he’s getting it at the plate even when having an uncharacteristic off night behind the dish. For the record, coming into tonight’s game, he’s slashing .378/.531/.595. Roman Anthony took a 2-out full count at-bat to a two-run double. If that wasn’t enough instances of the number two for you, know Mickey Gasper also accounted for an RBI with his double. Silver linings are abundant in a game that was truly reminiscent of the Major League club.
Have a happy Thursday!
